The fothermo 80 liter hybrid boiler set with 800 W mains feed is the perfect solution to reduce your hot water and electricity costs. This set is ideal for households with 1 - 4 people.

The PV modules connected to the switching device generate hot water efficiently and free of charge in the solar boiler. When excess electricity is available, it is fed into the power grid via an 800 W micro PV inverter.

Depending on the number of photovoltaic modules, electricity price and hot water consumption, the solar boiler generates around 75% of the hot water required from photovoltaic energy. Together with the surplus feed-in, you can save up to €550 in electricity costs per year.

Since a maximum of 800 W can be fed into the power grid via the Micro PV inverter, the entire system counts as a simple balcony power plant.

The solar boiler replaces a classic electric boiler. If there is insufficient sunlight, the boiler automatically reheats the water using electricity from the mains.

Connection plan for 800 W mains feed

In this example, excess photovoltaic power is fed into the house grid via an 800 W micro PV inverter. The fothermo switching device is required as an energy manager for this.

The switching device detects when the photovoltaic hybrid boiler has finished heating or when more photovoltaic power is available than the boiler can convert into heat. In these cases, excess energy is fed into the house network.

On particularly sunny days, the switching device starts feeding in partial surplus power from 1 - 2 modules early in the morning. This ensures that the house's basic electrical load is covered in the morning hours.

This way you save not only on hot water costs but also on electricity costs.

Installation of the solar boiler

The entire installation is very simple due to the plug connections and standard connections.

After the wall storage tank has been mounted on a suitable wall, it is connected to the hot and cold water pipes using 1/2 inch connections. Flexible hoses for this can usually be purchased at any hardware store.

As soon as the boiler is filled with water, the photovoltaic modules or the switching device can be plugged in. An extension cable connects the photovoltaic modules / switching device and the boiler. Several extension cables can also be combined (e.g. 10 m + 5 m = 15 m).
