We, the Reimann family, have lived in our cozy corner terraced house for many years. After our children moved out, we were faced with the decision to replace our old, inefficient electric boiler. The high electricity consumption of around 3,500 kWh per year for hot water production and electricity supply had increasingly bothered us. After thorough research, we came across the 80-liter solar hybrid boiler from fothermo - and this decision turned out to be an absolute stroke of luck.

Since we replaced the old electric boiler with the fothermo solar hybrid boiler, our electricity consumption has noticeably decreased. Instead of 3,500 kWh per year, we now only need around 2,300 kWh - a saving of around 1,200 kWh per year! This not only means less electricity consumption, but also a noticeable reduction in our household budget. At an electricity price of €0.30 per kWh, we save around €360 per year. Since we can use almost all of the solar power generated ourselves, the purchase of the boiler will pay for itself after around three years.

What is particularly impressive is that we can take hot showers completely free of charge from April to October. Thanks to the efficient use of solar power, the water stays pleasantly warm even when the sky is overcast. In the winter months, the automatic reheating takes over and ensures that we always have water that is at least 40 °C - even on the coldest days.

Installing the solar hybrid boiler was child's play. We connected a total of four photovoltaic modules with a total output of 1,280 Wp. With a simple 4-way parallel plug and two 10-meter extension cables, we were able to connect the modules to the boiler effortlessly. Connecting it to the water network was also straightforward, as the boiler is connected to the water network via a 1.5" thread like any other electric boiler. Everything was installed within a few hours and the boiler started heating immediately.

In addition to the financial savings and the uncomplicated installation, we especially appreciate the good feeling of using sustainable and environmentally friendly energy. It is a reassuring feeling to step into the shower knowing that the warm water was heated by the power of the sun and at no additional cost.
